HSA (Home and School Association)

The Sousa HSA (Home and School Association), a non-profit organization, is an alliance of parents, educators, and administrators who seek to promote the best educational opportunities for the students of Sousa Elementary in our homes, school and community. Through the use of its annual dues and fundraising, the HSA enhances the educational facilities and opportunities for our students by funding programs and equipment that are not otherwise provided for in the school budget. Many activities in our school are organized and staffed by HSA volunteers so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The HSA keeps parents aware of what’s happening at school via emails, e-newsletters, the HSA instagram (@sousastrong_hsa) and the HSA’s website (https://www.sousahsa.org/).

The Membership Toolkit message board (MTK) is the directory platform the HSA uses for all communication.  MTK is available online and as an app on your phone.  In order to be included in the Sousa directory you need to create a Membership Toolkit account by clicking HERE .  Select "Create Account" and then fill in name, email and password information.  Click "verify my email" and follow the next steps to complete the registration process.  Please note, parents have the option of enrolling in the MTK directory in order to access its benefits, but can choose to not have their contact information displayed.

Committees
The Sousa HSA has over 45 committees and they are a huge part of what makes our Sousa community so special!  Committee members provide our children access to the Sousa cooking lab, the Sousa garden, literacy events, creative arts experiences and more. Joining a committee is a wonderful way to get involved in the school and the time commitments range considerably so there is truly something for everyone. Sign-ups are collected online in Membership Toolkit.  Please sign-up HERE.  If needed, directions to sign up can be found here.

Class Liaisons
Prior to the start of each school year, two parents are chosen from each class to serve as class liaisons. These parents are the teacher’s main contact when it comes to disseminating information, coordinating activities and discussing class-related issues. Parents who are interested in volunteering for this position should fill out and return a sign-up form the preceding school year.
