Dear Sousa Elementary School Families, 

Welcome to John Philip Sousa Elementary School! On behalf of the John Philip Sousa Elementary School Staff and the Sousa Home and School Association I would like to welcome you to the Sousa family! This parent handbook has been organized to help familiarize you with our school and its daily routines. The purpose of the Sousa Handbook is to communicate guidelines, expectations, and provide explanations to help ensure a safe learning environment for all. The handbook is comprised of two broad sections: a student behavior guide which along with the Port Washington School District Code of Conduct outlines our children’s rights and responsibilities and a parent guide that attempts to clearly and succinctly outline day to day procedures, protocols, and special services at Sousa. Key issues and elements that make up a typical elementary school day are also addressed. I am sure that by spending a few minutes exploring the information included with your family, better home/school communication will result.
